The CEO of GMP KIT group of companies, Rafael Minasbekyan, took the first place in the rating of main film producers of Russia in 2020, according to “Film distributor bulletin”. Last year Rafael Mikhailovich produced the largest number of films released in theatres and OTT-platforms – eight. Vadim Vereshagin, the CEO of Central Partnership (the company is a part of GK GPM KIT, Gazprom Media Holding), also hit the TOP-five of the rating, he produced four films released in theatres.
Analysts of the magazine highlighted several key criteria used to evaluate the activity of Russian film producers: box office and budget ratio of each project, budgets, level of governmental support received, international distribution, festival awards and movie awards, level of media awareness and work with a distributor. Due to the increased popularity of online cinemas since 2020, one more evaluation criteria was added – if a produced film hit the TOP rating of online cinemas with the number of views by the end of a month and a year. For the calculation of rating were taken full feature projects that were released in theatres and online from January the 1st to December the 31st.
In 2020, Rafael Minasbekyan released eight feature films as an executive producer, among which are “Doctor Liza”, “Streltsov”, “Silver Skates”, “Ogon”.
“Text” and “Kholop”, two remarkable premiers of 2019 were considered for the rating as well, since both of them were released in online cinemas in 2020.
The fourth line of main Russian film producers rating belongs to the CEO of Central Partnership – Vadim Vereshagin. He produced four films released in 2020 – “Ne(idealniy) muzhchina”, “Streltsov”, “Yaga. Koshmar temnogo lesa”, “Vdova”. Central Partnership is the distributor of all mentioned movies. Online success of “Text” and “Kholop” projects were taken into consideration for Vadim Vereshagin as well.
